Boxing for women and girls in Ireland is on the increase. In 2005 the Amateur Boxing Association of Ireland only had a handfull registered female boxers. Since Katie's rise and succes more and more girls and women have joined a boxing clubs, which goes to show that other women and girls with the same questions as you did manage to start boxing.
Let's face it - if your going to get into the ring, you need to have trained hard. You have ot have heart, passion and a will to win. So ask yourself from day one. How much do you want it? How much are you willing to sacrifice, how hard are you willing to try how far will you go to get into that ring and win?
Your answer will determine your effort, development and entire attitude. Remember, your potential opponents will be asking themselves the same questions!
Never have doubt. From day one - from the beginning, have the right attitude in place and success as your goal. Enjoy what you do, know why you are doing it, what for - if you don't, what's the point?
Have love for your sport. Have respect and also show sportsmanship. It's common knowledge that NO ONE likes a sore loser...or arrogance or too much aggression. Respect works both ways - to your fighter, your team AND your fans.
