Some of the top amateur boxers in the World and Europe will be in action when the opening bell for the 2010 tournament tolls at the spiritual home of Irish pugilism at the weekend
Joyce, a bronze medal winner at the 2008 European Senior Championships in Liverpool, confirmed that he will be competing at welterweight after moving up one notch from light welter.
That move could see the 22 year old, who was agonisingly eliminated on a count-back to eventual champion Felix Diaz of the Dominican Republic at the 2008 Olympics, come into contact with his own St Michael's Athy team-mate Roy Sheahan, a former Irish champion and 2007 European Union gold medalist.
Meantime, McLaughlin, who reached the quarter finals of the 2009 AIBA World Senior Championships, is waiting in the wings. The Illies Golden Gloves man claimed an Ulster Senior title and scooped the boxer of the tournament award recently.
Joyce said: "Please God if myself and Roy do meet in the seniors it will be in the final. That would be fantastic, and if we do avoid each other in the earlier rounds and meet in the final then may the best man win.
"Willie McLaughlin is the defending champion and he's been in fantastic form going into the Championships. He'll obviously be going all out to retain his title and he'll be one of the ones to beat. I think the welterweight division will be very competitive as some top class boxers have entered.
"I've prepared very well for the Championships. I'm feeling very comfortable after moving up to welterweight and I can't wait for the tournament to begin."
Olympic medalists Ken Egan, who is targeting his tenth Irish senior belt on the trot, and Paddy Barnes will also be competing.
St Francis club-man and former Irish senior champ Jimmy Moore, one of the great stalwarts of Irish boxing, has entered at 51Kg.
